PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Choir Tutor will assist the Choir Director with various organizational and managerial responsibilities and assist with student sectionals and full rehearsals, and help manage student activities as needed.

Experience:
- A background in school Choir performance.
- A background of participation in college choral music
- Experience in teaching students in sectional rehearsals
- Experience in choreographing routines on the risers for choral ensembles.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to evaluate student performance and assist in improving individual and group skills.
- Strong organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create choreography specific to large groups of students that could be performed while singing.
Job Description:
- Sort, File, and organize music octavos and scores
- Help maintain the choral music library
- Help with uniform organization, maintenance, and management of the inventory
- Help prepare instructional materials and information for classroom instruction
- Create and maintain spreadsheets, programs, schedules for rehearsals, and calendar as needed
- Ensure communication with the Choir Director and the other staff members
- Assist with the organization of choral activities
- Assist with management of students in a variety of settings
- Assist student leadership in strengthening organizational and leadership skills
- Travel with the organization as needed to chaperone students
- Attend rehearsals and performances as needed
- Create rehearsal plans in cooperation with the Choir Directors.
- Schedule and conduct extra rehearsals for the sectionals if needed.
- Maintain high expectations for the level of performance during the warm-ups and give attention to individual members.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other staff.
- Other related duties, as assigned, to assist the Choir Director in preparing students for competitions and public appearances, including Phase, Region, Pre-Area, and Area auditions, Region clinic activities, concerts, etc..
- Assist with sound equipment checks and setup of equipment for concerts/performances
- Help with walking plans, staging, ushering, and monitoring of students before, during, after performances as needed
- Model healthy vocal technique for students
- Tools/Equipment Used: Sound equipment, rhythm instruments, piano, music stands, choral risers, etc.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, etc.
- Motion: Repetitive hand/arm motions, reaching, bending, etc.
- Lifting: Occasional light to medium lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds).
- Environment: indoor, outdoor, prolonged travel
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; Work with frequent interruptions, ability to communicate; ability to instruct
