REPORTS TO:  Campus Principal

COMPENSTATION PLAN: Teacher Salary Schedule –207 days

DEPT./CAMPUS:  Assigned Campus

 

 

Primary Purpose: 

Use a variety of instructional practices to collaborate with teachers, identify practices that will effectively address teacher and student needs, and help teachers implement those practices in order to close achievement gaps and accelerate learning for all students.  Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Degree from an accredited university in educational administrations, content area, or curriculum and instruction preferred.

Master’s Degree preferred

Valid Texas teaching certification, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned

ESL Certification required within 6 months of employment

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Thorough knowledge and understanding of subject matter and related TEKS

Thorough knowledge and understanding of curriculum design, instructional methods and implementation

Maintain high expectations for students and teachers

Capacity to model best instructional practices effectively in classrooms with students

Capacity to conduct instructional program evaluations and redesign where needed

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Capacity to interpret and utilize performance data

Ability to collaborate with campus and district staff

Ability to design and effectively facilitate professional development for teachers who are instructing students considered at-risk and/or educationally disadvantaged

 

Experience:

Three years of teaching experience in subject area assigned.

 

 Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

Present information and professional learning to a variety of educational professionals with a focus on improving student performance.

  1. Design and effectively implement staff development for teachers, administrators and staff at the campus level.
  2. Work and support struggling teachers at the campus level, especially those who instruct students who are considered at-risk and/or educationally disadvantaged.
  3. Observe classrooms and learning environment with a focus on improving student achievement.
  4. Consult, collaborate and train teachers at the campus level.
  5. Engage in current research, provide school-wide professional learning, and disseminate information and other significant educational developments on the state and national levels regarding best practices.
  6. Work in partnership with teachers and campus administration in reflecting on lesson design, instructional techniques, and integration of technology.
  7. Engage in professional development opportunities that will improve student performance.
  8. Advocate for student learning and support and communicate district teaching, learning and assessment initiatives.
  9. Comply with all policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, district and campus routines and regulations.
  10. Use strategies and actives that result in increased student performance in content area and on standardized assessments as well as an increased student success in meeting campus performance objectives addressing each of the academic excellence indicators.
  11. Develop and implement plans for curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required and meet the needs of students.
  12. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  13. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
  14. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from students and recognize excellence in achievement.
  15. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans.
  16. Attend ARD meetings and be prepared to discuss students’ strengths, weaknesses and abilities.
  17. Communicate and interact with students, parents and community in a positive manner.
  18. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students.
  19. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate effectively, interpret data, participate in district functions, and maintain emotional control under stress.

 

Physical Demands:

Occasional prolonged or irregular hours, ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
