Primary Purpose:
Responsible for coaching, supporting, and guiding teachers in best practices for Secondary English Language Arts instruction. Position provides intense professional development through planned learning sessions and through the job-embedded practices of planning, modeling, and coaching teachers. The position will support teachers throughout the district who are instructing students who are considered at-risk and/or educationally disadvantaged.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from an accredited university in educational administrations, content area, or curriculum and instruction preferred
Valid Texas teaching certification in content area assigned
ESL ceritification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough knowledge and understanding of subject matter and related TEKS
Thorough knowledge and understanding of curriculum design, instructional methods and implementation
Maintain high expectations for students and teachers
Capacity to model best instructional practices effectively in classrooms with students
Capacity to conduct instructional program evaluations and redesign where needed
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Capacity to interpret and utilize performance data
Ability to collaborate with campus and district staff
Ability to design and effectively facilitate professional development for teachers who are instructing students considered at-risk and/or educationally disadvantaged
Experience:
Five years of teaching experience in subject area assigned.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Present information and professional learning to a variety of educational professionals with a focus on improving student performance.
- Design and effectively implement staff development for teachers, administrators and staff.
- Work and support struggling teachers throughout the district, especially those who instruct students who are considered at-risk and/or educationally disadvantaged.
- Observe classrooms and learning environment with a focus on improving student achievement.
- Consult, collaborate and train teachers.
- Engage in current research, provide school and district-wide professional learning, and disseminate information and other significant educational developments on the state and national levels regarding best practices.
- Work in partnership with teachers and principals in reflecting on lesson design, instructional techniques, and integration of technology.
- Understanding of Blended Learning/CANVAS/and integration of technology in lesson design.
- Assist with technology integration in content areas.
- Engage in professional development opportunities that will improve student performance.
- Advocate for student learning and support and communicate district teaching, learning and assessment initiatives.
- Comply with all policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, district and campus routines and regulations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively, interpret data, participate in district functions, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands:
Occasional prolonged or irregular hours, ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
School district employees may be required to work from home and use their personal electronic devices.
This position is support with State Compensation Education and Title funds. The position must adhere to all program funding source requirements. It is important to understand that if the special allotment program fund(s) end, the position could end as well.
