Summer School Schedule:  6/04/2020 - 06/26/2020 M-F  Teacher Workday June 2-3

7:30 AM- 3:15PM

 

Primary Purpose:

 

Direct and manage instructional program and supervise operations and personnel at campus level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Direct the implementation of and compliance with district policies, instructional programs, and operation of all summer school activities.   

 

Qualifications, Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Texas Educator Certification
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Understanding of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to coordinate campus functions
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

 Minimum Experience:

  • Three years of experience as a classroom teacher
  • Experience in leadership roles

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes.
  2. Direct pre- and post-assessments and manage data as needed.
  3. Consult with district about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education program.
  4. Manage instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
  5. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in decision-making process.
  6. Communicate with district, staff, teachers, students, and parents regarding instruction and operations of summer school program.
  7. Complete payroll time sheets and reports as required.
  8. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students. Recognize excellence and achievement.
  9. Ensure the effective and timely resolution of conflicts.
  10. Observe employee performance.
  11. Communicate concerns regarding summer school staff to district personnel.
  12. Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
  13. Manage all reports, records, and other documents required, including staff and student attendance procedures.  File reports with the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability.
  14. Supervise summer school staff.
  15. Assign classrooms to staff (rooms designated by Campus Principal).
  16. Manage use of school facilities. Supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus. 
  17. Develop schedules for:
    1. Instructional Program
    2. Morning duty
    3. Lunch duty (ensure teachers eat with students)
    4. Recess
    5. Dismissal duty/carpool and bus
  18. Manage substitutes and substitute reports.
  19. Maintain effective student management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  20. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  21. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers as needed.
  22. Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff. 
  23. Maintain emotional control under stress.

 

School district employees may be required to work from home and use their personal electronic devices.
