JOB DESCRIPTION:
Effectively plan for, and administer the Extended School Year Services Program
by preparing activities and coordinating services for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ESYS Lead will work extensively with Special Education Director, Special
Education Coordinator, ACL Specialist, Human Resources Department,
Transportation Department, and Teachers to ensure appropriate services and
supports during ESYS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but
are not limited to:
? Staffing allocations for ESYS teachers and Instructional Associates in
accordance with student IEP, which would include ensuring that all
necessary training for provision of special education program to individual
students is completed prior to beginning of ESYS services.
? Ensuring that all ESYS staff members have access to each student’s IEP
and any Behavior Intervention Plan, as appropriate.
? Coordination of communication between ESYS staff and case-managers
to ensure necessary instructional materials and other supports are in
place prior to ESYS.
? Coordination of transportation requirements including any necessary
support personnel in accordance with student IEPs.
? Coordination of any medical services necessary during ESYS to include
ensuring protocols for distribution of medication are in place and followed.
? Oversight and supervision of instructional and behavioral programs during
ESYS activities to ensure all obligations to the IEPs and BIPs are met.
? Ongoing availability to ESYS staff during ESYS hours for the purpose of
supporting implementation of instructional and behavior plans as well as
crisis response procedures.
? Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
? In-district
? Preferred: experience as an ESYS Lead or administrative experience
? Ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences to include staff
members and parents.
? Ability to organize and carry out all aspects of the ESYS program in a
timely and accurate manner.
? Ability to work cooperatively with staff, administration and support
personnel to solve individual problems.
? Knowledge and understanding of laws regarding special education and
district policies and procedures.
? Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate IEP and to coach and
support staff and teachers so that they may effectively implement their
responsibilities under the plan.
? Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally
and in writing.
? Commitment to collaboration, teaming, and effectiveness in working within
a professional learning community.
? Skill in classroom management and ability to achieve, support, and
maintain acceptable student behavior.
