PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

            Education/Certification:

            Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university

            Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

 

            SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

            Trade and Industrial Education, two years of full-time wage-earning experience in the appropriate industry field.

           

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

 

At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Two years of experience in the professional automotive repair industry

ASE Certified Instructor

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Use strategies and activities that result in: (1) increased student performance in content area and on standardized assessments specific to the subject taught (2) increased student success in meeting campus performance objectives.
  2. Cultivate and develop a new automotive tech & automotive body repair program that will have an emphasis on becoming NATEF certified, aligned with ASE certifications and involved with the SkillsUSA CTSO.  

     
  3. Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required and meet the needs of students.
  4. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
  5. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  6. Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
  7.  Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from students and recognize excellence in achievement.
  8. Develop instructional activities, which incorporate appropriate student learning styles to meet student needs.
  9. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans.
  10. Attend ARD meetings and be prepared to discuss students’ strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
  11. Communicate and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community in a positive manner.
  12. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  13. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, and/or volunteers.
  14. Use technologies in the teaching/learning process as available and appropriate.
  15. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  16. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and provide progress and interim reports as needed and required.
  17. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  18. Present for students a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district.
  19. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  20. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and the IEP through the implementation of a proactive and positive classroom management plan.
  21. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  22. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials as requested.
  23. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  24. Schedule and conduct parent conferences with parents of students who are struggling or failing.
  25. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  26. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  27. Participate in campus and district staff development program.
  28. Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced courses at institutes of higher learning.
  29. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  30. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  31. Keeps informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  32. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  33. Maintain accurate attendance records and identify chronic attendance problems.
  34. Follow district and campus policy in assignment of meaningful homework, which supports curriculum goals and objectives.
  35. Follow district and/or campus grading policy in the assignment of grades.
  36. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, department meetings, and committee meetings as required.
  37. Report to work at the designated site on a regular daily basis according to the established work schedule.

 

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Principal and/or Assistant Principal. 

 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise assigned instructional assistants, aides, and/or classroom volunteers. Assist in the supervision of assigned student teachers.
