PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Maintain the district HVAC equipment in top operating condition. Provide students and staff with safe, comfortable, and functional learning equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
HVAC Technician’s license
Valid driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of HVAC digital controls systems
Knowledge of construction and maintenance operations
Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop preventative maintenance and utilities usage spreadsheet
Ability to operate tools and mechanical equipment
Experience:
Background in HVAC digital controls system maintenance, installation and repair
Five years experience preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Support the educational goals of the district.
- Maintain district HVAC equipment in the best condition.
- Accept and complete HVAC work orders and assignments from campus facilities.
- Assist with the maintenance and inventory of district HVAC supplies.
- Inspect district HVAC facilities and equipment for operation and safety.
- Able to work possible nights and weekends / call-outs as needed.
- Regular attendance; must be willing and able to report to work at designated site on a regular daily basis according to established work schedule.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Upgrade skills and training to meet new requirements.
- Coordinate with outside contractors, architects and engineers on school district projects.
- Coordinate ordering of HVAC supplies stocked by the Purchasing Department.
- Work with other maintenance areas in repair and installation projects.
- Advise on replacement or repair of HVAC equipment as needed.
- Install new equipment in district facilities.
- Responsible for implementing and monitoring energy savings programs and procedures for all district HVAC systems.
- Comply with district and departmental policies and procedures.
- Follow district policy concerning uniforms.
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities and duties of the job.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Electrical test equipment, hand tools, ladders, hydraulic lift, refrigeration recovery equipment, hand trucks, dollies, electric saws, electric drills, drill press, welders, gas and electric, operate motor vehicle

Mental Demands:
Ability to use verbal and written communication; act appropriately in emergencies; coordinate several projects simultaneously; demonstrate knowledge in several mechanical areas; maintain control in stressful situations
Physical Demands:
Climbing stretching, heavy lifting, crawling, driving, walking, balancing, perform laborious tasks, i.e.: digging, hammering, drilling
Environmental Factors:
Exposure to extremes of heat and cold, working with machinery and moving parts, uneven slippery surfaces, noise, works in rain, dusts and fumes, prolonged/irregular hours |
